Congratulations on your new addition! I got my yorkie a few months ago and I just adore him.

I agree with yoon714, it will be confusing for him to be allowed on the furniture sometimes. I would allow it completely, or not at all.

If you want to do some more sophisticated training, you could try using a special blanket. If the blanket is on the furniture, he can be on the blanket, otherwise no. Just be aware that this will be harder to train.
