If you're there on a weekend, there's a HUGE flea market (I think it's called Keller's) where you can find anything and everything. I bought a china service for 12 there one year for $20.00 and I still love it.
All the restaurants on Riverstreet are good, some are more expensive than others. There's a restaurant a few miles out of Savannah (I think it's called Maria's Steakhouse) that has wonderful steaks. They also have a dessert made of frozen bon bons that's brought out on dry ice. I've eaten there several times, too.
If you're into this kind of thing, go to Bona Venture Cemetery. It's fascinating! Also, to get the most info - take a trolley tour. The guides know EVERYTHING!
If you stay in Macon - don't go to the old Macon Mall! It's dangerous after dark and a lot of stores there are closing. There's a new shopping center off of 75 across from the Bass Pro Shop that's by far nicer and is also safe. |
Thanks for all the tips! Shrimp Factory - we love seafood so I am sure we'll look that one up. The Flea Market sounds interesting too - is it right in town?
