Default 2 Year old...whining and crying in car etc

Hello, I haven't posted in here for a long time but constantly reading alot of posts.

My problem is my near 2 year old Yorkie, Alfie. Its a few wee things that he does and it is mainly when we leave the house or when he is in the car. Firstly, when he knows we are going out he is constantly running around the house crying and whining and he jumps and pushes against pur legs. If we sit down he is up on our lap and doesn't move and is shaking...even though he is going to be coming with us. The only time he doesn't get on like this is when we are going out to work. Even when we are taking him out he is crying and barking and runs out the door.

Then the car...oh my...because of this we can't take him out too often. If we are only going to the shops he would do the crying and barking when we get out of the car. He also constantly crys and barks while traveling in the car. Sometimes he sits on daddys knee and we would open the window and he sticks his head out and that is the only time he is quite...then he would cry and whine again. I haven't got a crate or a cage for him. I got a car harness for him and that has done no good...so when I am taking him up to see my mum I put his bed in the boot of the car (of course the cover of the boot is taken off) and he still crys but it is not as bad but I do this so he doesn't cause an accident. We have been taking about getting a crate or a cage for the car. My hubby reckons that a crate would be best so he can't see out but I am not so sure.

Thanks for any help...I really want Alfie to come out with us were ever we go but this is stopping us from doing so. My mum said yesterday that she can feel that he is nervous in the car. I could kick myself as I definately think this is something I should have been training him from since he was a pup. When we put him in the boot or the back seat he crys to get into the front too. Yesterday he jumps from the boot into the back seat but I had to tell him to stay there because if he came into the front I know he would have caused me to have an accident as I was on my own.

Sorry for the long post.
