We stayed at a Holiday Inn (125 a night) just north of the Waterfront shops last time and on Tybee Island one Dec long ago. Have not stayed in the historic area. Beware tho', hotels/B&B's usually raise their rates for the 1st weekend Fri/Sat waterfront event. We got lucky when Holiday Inn forgot about it the last time. Check their C of C website.
