Salt water pools sanitize by the breakdown of salt into Hypochlorous Acid Chlorine and Caustic Soda. Caustic soda (NaOh), or Sodium Hydroxide, is just a by-product of the process to acquire the HAC; a hazardous by-product none the less. It is the same chemical compound used in Drano and Liquid Plumber to dissolve drain clogs. Because of this chemical equation, salt water pools have been under fire as of late. I would strongely incourage her not to drink from it.
