Oh you are NOT a bad Mommy to Mason. Maybe the can w/ coins was just a little too loud/large, and a tiny can w/ only one or two coins might work??
I know I have heard that the pet is not to know that "us humans" are tossing the can, it's to be a surprise??? Did Mason know this can throwing came from you?
I'm sure that soon w/ all the extra hugs and kisses Mason will come around quickly and not be fearful.
I am just no expert on training that's for sure and I hope you find a better solution that works for both you and Mason.
