? about SPCA's Can anyone answer this question for me. Who can call themselves an SPCA? Let me tell you what happened today. I found a yorkie mix on an SPCA site. Now I normally associate those letters with humaine societies, right? This SPCA is a 501c3 tax exempt rescue. I assumed, and I guess I was wrong, that this SPCA was run like any other. You find a dog and adopt it. Not this one. I drove 2 hours and then and they told me no, because I had another dog. Nowhere on the page did it say no other dogs. Then they said the director had somebody she new that wanted the dog and she had no other pets. They said the dog had been through alot and needed to be the only pet. When I saw the dog, she was the friendliest girl I've ever seen. No trauma there. I hate it when people advertise a dog at a rescue, then give it to someone they know. Why advertise then. Anyway, back to the subject.....I thought SPCA meant government funded, not a private rescue. Help clear this up for me if you can. |
