Jackson was the same way! I kept him on a leash but I wasn't too strict with the rules after the 3rd day... he was acting absolutely fine, he wasn't hurting, I continued to give him his pain meds for 5 days! I don't think it's entirely necessary (esp. for a boy) to be "locked up" for 2 weeks. He knew his limits most of the time. If the other dog came up to play with him and he was too tired, he would walk away from her and ignore her. So he knew when he could or couldn't! You will do fine
