I have lived in this house for 18 years with my poodles, and I think almost every other year we have a pup lick a frog or toad. I put up an acre fence to keep them safe and the darn frogs and toads keep getting in.
When Sissy had her "toad incident" our vet confirmed there are no poisonous frogs/toads in Michigan. However, the secretion they use as their protection can make a tiny dog very sick really quick and begins with the foaming at the mouth. I think because Sissy had the toad completely in her mouth, with the toad's hind end toward her throat, she swallowed quite a bit of the excretion as the little buggger squirted it!!!!!
