Oh my gosh I am having flashbacks. Its going to be a LONG battle but you WILL get through it. When I first brought home Baci it was an impulse thing. *mistake #1* I didnt research the breen OR realize yorkies are one of the hardest breeds to potty train. But when I saw him I fell in love.
It was a long battle.. luckily we have a big kitchen. So i gated him in there. Until this day when we are not home thats where he spends his time. Plenty of room to run around, his crate and toys are in there... and his wee wee pads
In the beginning i put the pads where I wanted them. I could not for the life of me get him to use the pads. Everynight in tears cleaning my kitchen floor because I would have to work and not be able to watch his every move. It came down to having to take time off work and for one week straight i was EVERYWHERE he was. And constantly reinforcing good potty behavior.
However... i did notice in this time that although he wasnt going on the pads.. he was going consistently in the same spot. Soooooo i moved the pads. And so far since that week and a half... all has been good. You REALLY need to be consistent. If you arent praising him EVERY time he does good, or fixing his wrongs... he wont get it. So stick with it... and keep in mind.. no matter what accidents happen. |
