I have had this same thing happen to ours and my hair is 14-16 inches long. I dont think it poses any danger to our babies. Remember their digestive system is moist with mucus throughout and there is no place for it to stick or get hung up so they are going to pass it on through and the problem would be as you said when they pass a stool that sticks around the rectal area with a hair that we get to pull that seem forever long. My daughter and I have had Yorkies for 5 years and we both have long hair...no problems other than the "dangleing doo" lol.
