I have a cage for mine and they are 4 years old and 15 months old. (They also have several beds through the house too. They like their comfort. LOL) Mine are great in the house.... but our Yorkies can get into things that can hurt them if they are bored.
Since my babies sleep with me and are my constant companions, the only time they are put in there is when I am going to be gone and can't take them with me. I would rather have them safe than have something happen to them.
You will decide what is best for you.
