If you really want to make sure, go to a store that specializes in bikes, they will have cheap to expensive bikes and you can talk to the sales rep about what you want the bike for and get whats perfect for you.
My brother bikes but he is a triathlete and his bike was $6,000!!  I think the whole bike (even with the tires) weighs 12lbs! I am sure you don't need that kind though!  | Yeah, I definitely think I'm going to go to a bike store or two this weekend.
