If she is getting bit, it is probably best to go back to flea meds.
I would never recommend stopping heartworm meds.
We don't use flea and tick meds because we really just don't need them and I take precautions to make sure we don't. Our yard is sprayed and Ellie doesn't really play outside, so she rarely gets bit. We do Interceptor though.
