But after about a month, she started to tolerate her coming near her. Another month and they were buddies. Same thing happened each time we added a puppy. We are convinced getting the other dogs has given our 16 year old dachshund added years she would not have had otherwise. But she was a slow one to warm up to any of them!

I'd just like to back this up too by saying that we had our first Yorkie about six years before bringing Bella home. When Bella first came our Newman would snarl at her. A day after having her I almost called to have someone else foster and eventually adopt her, because I thought for sure Newman would kill her. It was all talk on his part - just letting her know he was boss. Bella is 5 yrs old now and we lost our Newman two years this August to cancer but for the time they had together they were the best of friends and having her brought back the puppy in him. It took about a good month and I'm so thankful that we didn't panick and place her. Time may be something you may want to give - atleast a month. It's a big adjustment but my suspision is that they will become good friends.
