Like many of the American readers I understand "meet your maker" to mean meeting God as in dying. So I wanted to tell you another funny one from a client I have from South Africa.
When talking about the unexpected frost we had last month she said she "had to bring in all her pot plants" the night before to save them from the frost. I had to explain that she should learn to say 'potted plants' as pot plants are marijuana in the states lol! Otherwise that would be a bad story to tell at the P.T.A. (parent/teacher meetings at school)
