Does it just last a long time?

Gucci was diagnosed with Kennel cough on April 7th. He was given medicine and antibiotics the FIRST DAY he started symptoms but the cough got worse for a day and then it started to get better.

He got over the cough but he still hacks when he gets over-excited.. He has been doing this since the Kennel cough. Can it cause a collapsed trachea or is he just not FULLY over the cough yet?
Can it last this long without the symptoms being very bad?
he did have a round of bordatella Before the KC so maybe it isn't as bad but still present?
