I have to agree with the others...do not leave your Yorkie outside, ever.
My only suggestion is, if you decide to use a baby or pet gate, is to make certain it is NOT plastic, they will chew right through it...the ones I use for Winston is metal coated with plastic...works great. He knows when I'm leaving and runs into the kitchen and jumps in his bed...so try to coax your little one in and then put up the gate...no chasing it to capture and lock it up...they will only resent you and run and hide when it's time for you to leave. And don't forget to puppy proof the space...a bored puppy may start chewing on anything and everything.
