Millie was almost 10 years old but had just had her senior work up and I was told she was healthy and could live several more years. Two weeks later I took her in to have her teeth cleaned because they told me I'd get a discount if I did it within a certain time after the senior physical. Two weeks after that she got really ill. I had to put her to sleep. That was the only time I'd ever had her teeth cleaned. I can't prove that the teeth cleaning had anything to do with her becoming so ill or if it was coincidence.
