Morgan became scared of thunderstorms soon after she turned 2 so i've only been dealing with this for a year. The cape sounds like a good idea. But if you want to try something cheaper first you can use non scented dryer sheets. Rub one over your dog when they first start getting agitated, or before hand if you know the storm is coming. This reduced the static charge on your dog and i think does almost the same thing as the cape.
