Hi- I'm new to YT. I just adopted my little Bella (an approx 2 y/o female yorkie) about 3 weeks ago. The foster told me that she used potty pads there, but since I've had her- she seems to think that potty pads are for napping on
. She will now potty outside on walks and for the most part has not had a lot of accidents (several days none, others one) in the past week. But yesterday we went out and then she pooped right after we got back inside. And then this morning - the same thing
. I guess I didn't give her enough time. I just wish I could get her to use the pads inside also. I work about 25 minutes away from home and if I keep taking long lunches to come home to take her out- I'll lose my job. I've tried placing her on the pads when she needs to go and correcting her when I catch her going other places, but she doesn't seem to get it. I'll wait by that darn pad for over an hour- and she won't go!!! This is my first dog, so I'm not real experienced. I love any advice yall can offer. I leave her free in the house now because as long as I come home at lunch she won't have accidents while I'm gone. She really hated her crate (I used that for the first week and a half while we were potty training) and I'm gone 9.5 hrs if I don't come home at lunch, so I can't crate if I don't come home in between. I tried babygating her in the kitchen, but I can't find any baby gate she can't jump over- it's like she is half bunnyrabbit! (see video my husband put up)
She does last through the night 8pm-5:30 or 6am without going, so maybe it's possible for her to last all day, but it seems like a lot to ask and I'd like her to use the pads for when it's raining or when it gets really cold outside, etc.
Right now I take her out at 5:30am, 7am, 12pm, 5pm, 8pm...
