Roof of Mouth is Black. Should I be Worried? I asked the vet about Meg's (very) stinky breath last week, and she said it was because Meg is mega-teething. Meg is getting "double" teeth on both the top and bottoms (4 sets in all). The vet seemed to think that this was normal and the bad breath will run its course, and hopefully the double teeth will fall out on their own. Well, I just looked into Meg's mouth and the roof of her mouth is black! Is that normal? It's really dark black on all of the lines across the roof of her mouth (raised rows of gums?), then dark gray between the lines. Now I am really worried that something is wrong... Anyone know if this is a cause for concern?
Meg has always eaten wet food (Honest Kitchen) but has recently become interested in kibble (YAY!). I am giving her Wellness Puppy with a little Evo Red Meat mixed in. I still put out the wet food, but she's been favoring the kibble lately. Is her mouth rotting away from eating wet food? Her gums look perfectly pink and healthy. She HATES having her teeth brushed, so although I TRY to brush her teeth, I am never very successful with it.
Also, at what point will the double teeth need to be pulled if they don't fall out on their own?
