Default I've had an epiphany!

I just wanted to share. I've been on here in the past talking about my highly reactive Yorkie. When we would go out on walks he would bark at everything. Especially other dogs, people on bikes, motorcycles, children playing, etc. It drove me crazy! Last summer we had very few nice walks.

Over the winter it wasn't so bad because there weren't as many people out and about. But, warm weather is back and I have to say he is doing sooo much better! I realized that if I don't react at all to him when he gets upset and starts barking at someone/something, then he doesn't get nearly as upset and stops barking. I always tried to stay calm before, but it never really worked. And, now that I have figured out how to stay calm, he is also able to be much more calm. It is great to be able to have a nice walk with him without being completely embarrassed!
