I recently heard that Therapy Dog United requires neck collars for their testing and visits. At least, that's one one person who went through their testing was told. She informed the tester of Yorkie trachea issues, and they said nope, all their therapy dogs must wear a neck collar.
I was stunned. Delta Society allowed me to test with Eddie with a harness, and he did just fine. Why should they care with a little dog? It's not as though you can't control them with a harness. And if the dog doesn't perform to their standards, they don't have to pass him or her.
Has anyone else had experience with that group? Here's their site,
Therapy Dogs United | Home Page.
I want to write them and try to show them the error of their ways.
