I'm certainly not an expert since Annie is the only Yorkie I've ever had....but ...
She is registered AKC as black and gold and most of her ancestors are on there as black and gold. Her back has always been very black, but her face changes from very brown-gold to almost beige and then back dark again. If you really look at the face and head hair, you would find about 4 shades of color. Her little tail also changes color from gold-brown to almost a silver shade. Sooooooo ...I don't think there's a definite answer for your question, at least if your Yorkie is like mine !! I almost forgot to tell you Annie is 4 years old.
