 Why does he do this?

I've had Nicco for almost 4 months now. He hasn't really been exposed to many other dogs. When he sees other dogs, he gets kind of scared and starts to back away. Today, we saw another dog who was 3 years old and they both just start growling at each other! Nicco started barking at the dog and the dog started barking at him as well. I didn't know how to calm him down, he just kept staring at him and growling. He does this to other people too (a lot of children as well!)
He is completely fine with my family and he is also a sweetheart when my three little cousins come over (5, 6, and 11 years old)...so i really don't understand why he growls at other people/dogs. Any help is appreciated! =) |
