I never have given it to my dogs of 12 weeks or older. I used it for one tiny puppy of a few days old (when we lost the momma) and he was not gaining weight and seemed unduly fatigued. I think it helped get him through a rough spot, but still I only gave it to him a very few times.

I would say you should discontinue the Nutrical if your 5.5 month old pup is eating well and showing no signs of hypoglycemia. If any dougt, or if there were vet's instructions to use the Nutrical in this manner, then get the vet to weigh in on this again.
