You have already made the hardest decission, walking away from a pet shop yorkie! Don't go back and see if he's still there, no matter how strong the urge, you'll get into trouble
I'm sure that there are good breeders in your area, even if you have to drive a distance, it's a once in a lifetime commitment, so it's well worth the time. Just look for clear healthy eyes, they should smell clean, be energetic, and if possible see the parents and see how close to the standard they are.
