I am so very sorry for your loss of Sophie. I wish I could say something that would help ease the pain, but there are no words that will accomplish that.
As others have said, the inexpensive cremation is a "mass" cremation ... with a number of pets whose owners wanted a more dignified end for their pets than mere "disposal". The more expensive cremation is for Sophie alone, so that her ashes may be returned to you.
I have had all of my pets cremated and returned. There is an odd peace that settles on you when they return home. It's worth the added expense; you won't ever regret doing it.
My standing orders are to mix my ashes and all my beloved pets' so that we can be scattered combined, together again for one last time.
