I would suggest neutering and then keeping him gated off in the kitchen, bathroom or utility room when you are not home. Also make sure he has plenty of things to keep him occupied while you are at work. He might just be telling you in pee what he can't say, that he does not like being left home alone all day. Can you arrange to take him to doggy day care once or twice a week, or, have someone come in and walk him every day while you are at work? If you get #2, include your 2 year old in the potty training sessions. Take them both out at the same time. If all this fails, talk to an animal behavioral specialist.
