i'd take care of the flea problem right away. fleas on puppies are not good. if untreated the puppies can become anemic and get very sick. why didn't your vet give you frontline plus? this can be used on any weight dog as long as its over 8 weeks old. Just don't use the whole tube. I use half on my 4lb yorkie.
you can also wash your puppies to get rid of the fleas. you can use regular shampoo or dawn dish soap. do not wet the puppies first. water makes the fleas react before the soap can kill them. when you wet the dog before adding the shampoo the flea will kinda form a bubble around its head to protect itself. if you put the shampoo directly on the dog first you'll have a better chance of killing the fleas. you can use the shampoo straight or get a bottle and dilute the shampoo first then add this directly to the dog.
there is never just one or two fleas. if they've had some fleas for a while you might have them around your house too. while you are washing the puppies, take all their beds and blankets and throw them in the wash. after the bath put the pups in their crate and then vacuum the hell out of the house (floors, beds, couches, etc).
