I had same problem with George, the harness the pet shop sold me has a wide strip underneath for his chest but when I put it on he would crawl to his cage and not budge, so I got him a thin strapped one and he loves it, no problem now. The back door was a problem to start with, my hubby would go outside for a smoke and George would want out too, but with a treat and praise that is no longer an issue, when I go out he just sits on his blanket and waits, but the greeting is lovely when I come back inside. He makes my life so enjoyable.
