I am starting to try to leash train Bailey. She hasn't had all of her shots yet, but she's had 2 sets. I just had new concrete laid in my backyard so I've been taking her out with her harness and leash to practice walking around the backyard. The only thing is I have a couple big problems with her.
She loves going outside, but she hates the harness. The one I have is very complicated to put on, and when I try she grabs any part of it in her mouth and won't let go, making it practically impossible to put it on. I will get her a velcro kind eventually, but it seems like a waste now when she'll grow out of it (she's 14 weeks). HOW can I get her to sit still and let me put it on her?
Also, since she's starting to love the outside so much, she is always by the back door and tries to dart out when I open it!
This scares me so much because I don't want her ever getting out & lost. She's not yet microchipped. She knows sit and stay as long as I have a treat in my hand, but it doesn't always work where the open door is concerned.
Help?
