I would be concerned about the size of the puppy, I never sell anything less than 2 1/2 lbs I don't care how old it is before sale. Why? Health issues that can arise and hypoglycemia which can be lethal if the new owner doesn't recognize the problem. Too many vets don't know either so that doesn't always work for a new owner to go to the vet when it crashes. I also would prefer to keep it until it is over 6 months to be sure of health issues and it is BA tested as well as full blood panel for other liver/kidney function. Spay/neuter is done by my Vet once it is safe to do so.
I would never consider using a Yorkie for breeding purposes less than 5 lbs. The parents of this little guy should definitely have been health tested and I would hope there is some sort of guarantee in writing from the breeder who signs the paperwork, protecting the buyer.
If you are selling for someone else, that makes you a third party and can get kind of confusing for the buyer as to who might be liable for the health guarantee.
Thank you for this information. I unfortunately acquired this little guy as a surprise birthday present (which I NEVER EVER recommend). He is from a breeder, though. If I cannot find him the absolute perfect home, I plan on keeping him. I am well versed about hypoglycemia, and I do take precautions. My vet and I have discussed testing on him, and I plan on having it done. The majority of my vet's patients are of the smaller breeds (many of which are yorkshire terriers). I do not intend on giving this little guy up to any plain ol' jane, dick or harry. I go through an interview process that is thorough and if the potential new owner does not agree to participate in any portion of it ... then I decline their offer. Thank you again.
