I like to call Jackson an "alerter!" Because he's not really a barker, per say. He doesn't bark at dogs passing by (unless my mom's dog starts it... then he will just copy her, unknowing to what he's barking at) But, he will do the whole "woof woof woof woof woof woof" really quickly if someone opens my bedroom door while he's sleeping, he barks when someone comes in the front door but it stops after 4 or 5 barks. And immediately I just say "Quiet!" and he usually listens. So, he's definitely not excessive but he's definitely a little watchdog when it's time to be. Which I really don't mind because what if someone seriously was intruding our house... that would come in handy!
I really don't think he would be a barker if it wasn't for the other dogs he's been around and lived with. My dad's dog is an AWFUL barker so whenever we spend a few nights over there, he picks up on the habit, which I hate! But he will usually listen to me. |
