the bordatella vaccine needs to be given yearly. it is only needed if your dog is going to be around a lot of other dogs like at the grooming shop, dog park, pet store, or training class. kennel cough is very contagious and is airborne, like the common cold or flu. it can be hard to get rid of. I gave it to my yorkie when she was a pup because we were going to training classes and what not. i haven't given it to her since.
when you first give the vaccine it has to be given twice, a month apart i believe, then its good for a year.
