Last year, my Captain got both shots the same day and had a bad reaction, first started laying around, then started itching and we noticed his face seemed "puffy" and then the vomiting started.....we took him to the emergency vet who treated him with several meds to stop the reaction.
This year, we did the combo one day and four weeks later did the rabies. The vet told us after each shot if we saw any type of reaction to immediately give Benadryl and if no change in 30 minutes to bring him back to the office. Luckly for us....he did well with just the separation of shots and time allowed in between.
You mention itching.....check the face closely - do you see any puffy/swelling or really red eyes or drainage - anything that would be a visiable reaction?
