I've use various kinds latex and rubber, I don't have any problem with either, are you keeping the bands too tight? Also, many people recommend cutting the band, just be sure and pull the band away from hair before you cut. Cloth bands are easiest on the hair, but I have a problem with them staying in place. Some people take the band out at night, but Joey can't see a thing with the band out, so we keep a loose band in at night. After the band is applied, I add a bow, you never use the bow, as the main band.
