One of the things I learned in obedience is to have a variety of different treats to use. You will quickly learn which ones are higher "value" to your dog. The main one that I use is Bil Jac dog food. You can get it in the freezer department of most grocery stores. I break it apart while still frozen and keep baggies in the freezer. My breeder told me about it - she uses it for shows. She calls it "puppy crack" and the name certainly fits with Sadie. She will do anything for it. For a Yorkie the trick is to use a very small piece. I also reduce her regular food when we are training a lot. She will do anything for her "puppy crack". |
