My vet called the pharmacist at the NC State Vet School years ago to find out what non-drowsy antihistamine Lady could take and was told 1/4 tablet Zyrtec was safe. She's seven pounds.
She takes two kind sof seizure medications plus is diabetic, so if it's safe for her, it's gotta be safe for "normal" furbabies.
It's nice now that it is generic. I used to have to pay $80 for 30 pills!
