Our 2 little girls will go outside while we take walks, but they have been brought up to go on puppy pads indoors. They are 9 and 11 yrs old and if it wasn't for the puppy pads, we never would have caught a few Urinary Tract Infections early enought to be treated quickly. If it wasn't for the pads we wouldn't have detected any problems if they were going outside on the ground. Another issue being we have too many hawks and critters that would love to eat little dogs, besides the freezing temps of wintertime here makes it impossible for them and me to be out in the elements, them being only 4 lbs. each.

Suggestion: Always have a covered and enclosed area for them to be safely outside if left alone to do their business as birds of prey are everywhere.
