i wouldn't switch to another store bought food since Baxter is going to be going into surgery. With the surgery the vet will be removing all the stones then he will be sending these stones out to the lab. the lab will verify what kind of stones these are. There are two types. His diet will need to be changed based on this information to a prescription food provided by your vet. unfortunately teh test results do take a long time to come back so i would ask your vet if he thinks teh switch to prescription food should be done before the results come back. you can also find information from a vet nutritionist about the type of homecooked diet you can feed him.
