YES!!! That is almost EXACTLY what Im feeling. The pain is right near my ear but its only when I open my mouth that I feel it. I don't feel the hinge sticking out, but when I press my finger on the hinge and open and close my mouth I can feel and hear a SLIGHT cracking/rubbing sound/feeling.

I have had jaw soreness in the past from a night of heavy grinding/clenching my jaw but this is different. This is very uncomfortable, almost like my ear is clogged up and the side of my face is swollen. Like I was literally punched in the jaw from the side.
