I can't remember exactly when Cash changed colour, but by six months all the black was gone. He continued to change colour and grew much lighter. Now, at 2 years, he has his permanent coat which is much lighter than his coat at a year.
I don't think they all start at the same time, but I just wanted to give you an idea.
It is actually so exciting to see their permanent colour come in!
