Our elderly boxer, Boo, has Boxer Caridomyopathy and has to take two different heart meds twice a day.... here are a couple of our tricks.
I a bit of high quality canned dog food stuff the pills inside and she swallows them right down.
If she is being stubborn I stuff the pills in some cream cheese or a bit of regular cheese.
If she gets ugly and won't take them, I "grease" the pills with a bit of butter or margerine, open her mouth and put them on the back of her tounge and hold her mouth closed while stroking her throat to encourage her to swallow. |
