If you put it further back in the mouth then gently keep mouth closed and lightly rub the throat or do like I do.. take a small piece of bread, bread with peanut butter or a soft treat, hide the pill within and they gobble it up! Sometimes they are smart enough to eat the bread then spit out the pill so you have to watch carefully.
