I would just leave dry food down all day for him, since he doesn't seem like he'll be a chow hound! Then if he still hasn't eaten try some "Wellness" canned. My boys just love it. Put a tiny bit down and see if he goes for it, if not leave it there for a while, that way if you have to throw it out your not wasting so much at one time...
