Dwerten and I talked about this piece Dec 08. It is all too sad, but true. Willis has other stories that are a little "lighter". I saw this happen in the military all too many times when families were transferring. More recently, there maybe a run on Portugese Water Dogs, or on Yorkies by followers of a teenage "celeb", by families that can not afford a pet or the novelty wears off.
