All 3 of my gang are great greeters! If it's someone who hasn't been over before I usually talk to them before they come to see how they feel about dogs and warn them that they will be mugged when they come in. If the person is pretty shy about dogs, I'll hold them back and just let one greet them at a time. Once the newness of the visitor has worn off, they are usually off to play and don't bother my guest so much anymore.
But for my friends who are dog lovers or don't care about the mugging they'll get, I just do my best to be sure my guest have a chance to come up for air occasionally.
