Vectra :( Hi everyone! I have an eight month old yorkie who has been on flea medication for four months and I have not had a problem until I started using Vectra. I take Bailey to Banfield in the local Petsmart where I was given a free dose of Advantage for signing her up for her pet insurance through them. Very soon after, due to an minor issue for a regular visit, I was given another free dose of flea medication, this time being Advantix. Just shy of a month after application of the Advantix, I started to notice a flea or two. Being just a few days short of a new application, I went to Banfield to make my first true purchase of flea medication. The vet insisted I tried Vectra because it was the latest and greatest. Unfortunately, after about two weeks I noticed two fleas on her. I treated the carpets, and according to the vet, this type of flea activity was normal and that after my second dose of Vectra the problem would be fixed. Instead, my dog continued to be covered in fleas for the last two weeks of the month.
On the first of April, I applied my second dose of Vectra to Bailey, and treated the carpets again. She was to my knowledge flea free until yesterday, exactly two weeks after application. As far as I can tell, at least for my dog, Vectra is only effective for two weeks, and the other two weeks out of the month my dog has to suffer. Instead of using the third dose of Vectra, I am planning on buying Frontline for May. Has anyone else had this issue with Vectra? |
